  • Group Therapy

If you haven’t personally experienced a therapy group, you may have impressions from shows or movies about how it works. Sometimes those can be helpful and sometimes not so helpful. (For example, at Crossland Counseling, you may be sitting in a circle with other people struggling with the same issues, but you won’t be sitting in a darkened room lit by fluorescent bulbs wearing a name tag and asked to join a Fight Club).

Group therapy is a type of therapy that involves a group of individuals working together with a trained therapist to address a range of mental health issues. It is a collaborative approach that provides individuals with the opportunity to share their experiences, learn from others, and receive support and feedback in a safe and confidential environment.

Group therapy can be beneficial for individuals dealing with a range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and relationship issues. It can also be helpful for individuals who are seeking to improve their communication skills, build self-esteem, or work through difficult life transitions.

During group therapy sessions, individuals will participate in discussions, activities, and exercises led by a trained therapist. The therapist will facilitate conversations and provide guidance, while also encouraging group members to offer support and feedback to each other.

Group therapy offers a unique opportunity for individuals to learn from each other’s experiences, and to gain perspective and support from those who are going through similar challenges. It can also help individuals develop new coping strategies and build stronger relationships with others.

At Crossland Counseling, we offer a variety of group therapy services to meet the unique needs of our clients. Our groups are led by trained therapists who specialize in a range of mental health issues, and we offer groups for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Contact us today to learn more about our group therapy services and how they can help you on your journey to improved mental health and well-being.

Emotional abuse support/therapy group provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals who have experienced emotional abuse. Emotional abuse can take many forms, such as belittling, gaslighting, manipulation, and isolation, and can have a profound impact on an individual’s mental health and well-being.

In this group, individuals have the opportunity to share their experiences with others who have gone through similar situations. The group is led by a trained therapist who provides guidance and support, and facilitates discussions and exercises to help group members understand and cope with the effects of emotional abuse.

The group may focus on topics such as building self-esteem, setting boundaries, and improving communication skills. It can also provide a space for individuals to process their emotions, heal from past traumas, and develop new coping strategies.

An emotional abuse support/therapy group can be a valuable resource for individuals who have experienced emotional abuse, as it can provide a sense of validation, support, and empowerment. It is important to note that emotional abuse can be a serious issue and seeking professional help may be necessary.

    OPEN Weekly Process Group

When: Mondays from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM

    Where: Virtually on Zoom

Cost: $40 per session, long-term, ongoing group

Therapy Austin’s ongoing weekly psychoanalytic psychotherapy group for adults is seeking new members!

Group therapy is an effective way to address issues of anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and addictive behaviors (and more!) The idea behind group therapy is that the unique experience of being in a community with peers allows people to benefit in ways that individual therapy, by nature, cannot address in the same way. For example, group members can learn to give and receive feedback from other members, increase self-awareness and gain insight by being around others with similar struggles, practice active listening skills, reduce feelings of loneliness, and learn to receive support and create connections.

Bonus: Group learning is a unique (and more affordable) way to participate in deep inner work.
